Go Oscars!

Ah, how I love summer swim meets. If you've never been a part if a summer swim team though, then you wouldn't understand. I've been swimming at the same pool for the same team since I was seven. It's like a big family, all if the coaches and the swimmers. I live for it. I've had all of the coaches at one point or another, and now I've even started to help coach the little 6 and unders.  Me and one of my best friends grew up on the team toghether, although we didn't used to get along so well. I love everyone there, the coaches are so supportive, and the friends you make on the team when you're little will last a lifetime, I'm convinced.
I said summer swimming was like a family, but sometimes it actually IS a family. One of our coaches has three adorable children on the team, and everyone loves them. They have grown up - and are still growing up - on the team.  One if the old coaches is practically their uncle (I actually think he's their godfather). He's tight with everyone on the team, all the kids and parents alike love him to death. He comes to support the team at practices and meets. He knows everyone by name and. He always cheers for everyone.
Monday night meets are the best part of summer swimming. Everyone cheers for everyone, even the other team. We all show great sportsmanship. Those six Monday night meets are by far my favorite nights of the whole summer. The friendship, the support, the fun, the cheer, make Monday night meets amazing.
People never understand why I still swim in the summer. I'm not that great, but I just love it. You'd have to be in my shoes on a Monday night at Forest Hills to understand.
