Richmond

Richmond (on the left) and his sister Jayden when they were six weeks old.

We're getting a dog today! For years my brother has been begging my parents to get him a dog, and in Feburary, they finally gave in. We went to see a breeder about twenty minutes away from our house, and my dad convinced my mom to let us get on. They are Llewellin setters, pretty much like English setters. Ours is a boy, to be named Richmond. We had been arguing for weeks about the name, originally my mother wanted the name to be Henry or George (she has a thing for British Royalty names, hence me and my brother's names. Heck, even my cat is named after royalty). My brother and I vetoed those two names real fast - those are people names not dog names. Next, my mom thought up Louis. My brother liked that one, but my dad and I did not. The name I had been pushing for since the beginning was Ace, but I was the only one that liked that one. My Dad and I finally were able to convince my brother and my mom to name it anything but Louis. While we were touring colleges on spring break (just me and my parents), we were at University of Richmond. It's where my dad went to school, and we were at the bookstore and saw dog leashes with "Richmond" written all over them, and my dad suggested we name it Richmond. We bought the leash, and told my brother of the name idea when we got home. He liked it, and that's ultimately what we decided on.

We pick up little Richmond today after school; we are all so excited. We can't wait to bring home our new puppy!
