Yesterday there was a gunman on virginia tech's campus. i swear, i freak out about this stuff every time. a few weeks ago there was a JMU student was hit by a bus and killed. it amazes me every time how fast i hear about things like this. I knew about the JMU incident within an hour. i immediately called alex, of course he was freaked out, but at least he was safe. i felt like yesterday was just a repeat of this, but only worse. i heard within an hour or two, and immediately called allison and checked on emily. i know that out of 20,000+ students, if only 2 people shot, odds were in my favor for it to not be a friend of mine. but it's still scary. i can't even imagine getting that text that said there was a gunman lose on campus. i got updates from allison on the lockdown. for those 4 hours, even i was kinda freaking out, and praying a lot. and i'm 5 hours away. i can't imagine being there.
also, it really surprises me that this happens at other school so often. or it seems like pretty often. it just surprises me that school like tech and jmu that are just college towns like blacksburg and harrisonburg have so many issues. but i live in columbia. the capital of south carolina. surrounded by the ghetto, but nothing like that happens here *knock on wood*.
